ATTICA. Athens. Circa 460-455 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 17.24 g, 8 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with three olive leaves and palmette, round earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl standing right with head facing; to left, crescent and olive sprig; all within incuse square. Starr Group V. Svoronos cf. pl. 9, 7 ff. A wonderful, fresh example, very well-centered, with much original luster and with a wonderful owl. Obverse struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, virtually as struck.
