ATTICA. Athens. Circa 449-404 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 17.22 g, 5 h), owl with a horizontally placed head: the style of the main, 'mass' issues, c. 440-430s. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with three olive leaves and palmette, round earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl standing right, head facing; behind, olive spray and crescent moon; all within incuse square. Svoronos pl. 13, 23. An attractive and unusually well-centered example, with the full crest of Athena's helmet. Virtually as struck.
