ELIS. Olympia. Circa 450-440 BC. Stater (Silver, 23 mm, 12.37 g, 8 h). Eagle flying right with wings above and below his body, grasping hare by the belly and tearing at him with his beak. Rev. Ϝ - Α Nike striding to left, holding wreath in her outstretched right hand and the hem of her chiton in her left. BCD Olympia -. Seltman, Temple -, (but obverse die AK paired with reverse die βα). Very rare. Very attractively toned, well-centered and well-struck. Some slightly rough areas, otherwise, about extremely fine.
