ELIS. Olympia. Circa 270s-260s BC. Stater (Silver, 24 mm, 11.70 g, 11 h). Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. Ϝ - Α | Α - Ρ[Ι] Eagle, with closed wings, standing to right; to left, vertical thunderbolt; to right, wreath. BCD Olympia II (LHS 96) 653 = Seltman, Temple 220 var. An attractive, toned example, with a sensitive and noble head of Zeus, struck on an oval, cameo-like flan. Rare. About extremely fine.
