CYCLADES, Keos. Keian Koinon. Late 4th-early 3rd century BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 14 mm, 2.25 g, 10 h). E-Y-Ξ Bearded head of Aristaios to right. Rev. Κ - Ε[Ι] Grape cluster hanging from a vine branch. Papageorgiadou-Banis Series I. SNG Copenhagen 626. Very rare. Dark brown-green patina. Some flatness, otherwise, very fine.

Aristaios was a somewhat minor, rustic god, the son of Apollo and the Artemis-like huntress Kyrene (later she became the foundress of Kyrene in Libya). His cult was celebrated on Keos.
