LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 290-280 BC. Nomos or Didrachm (Silver, 21 mm, 7.93 g, 2 h). Head of Demeter to right, wearing wreath of barley ears. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Ear of barley of seven grains; to right, above leaf, star above two amphoras; ΦI below. HN III 1625. Johnston D4.16 (same dies). Attractively toned, nicely centered and very sharp. Extremely fine.
