ISLANDS OFF CARIA, Rhodos. Lindos. Circa 515/0-475 BC. Stater (Silver, 21 mm, 13.74 g). Lion's head with open jaws to right; below, ornamental band. Rev. Irregular rectangular incuse divided into two equal compartments by a raised band of three lines. Cahn, group E var. (with a raised band on the reverse). Hunterian 1 var. and SNG von Aulock 2782 var. (both with a single band on the reverse). A bold, toned and attractive example. Apparently unique with this reverse. Good very fine.
