CILICIA. Soloi. Circa 410-375 BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 6.5 mm, 0.23 g, 11 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing modified Attic helmet with tendril on the bowl. Rev. Bunch of grapes within linear circle; all within shallow circular incuse. BMC 24. Very rare. An attractive coin, perfectly centered. Slightly rough surfaces, otherwise, extremely fine.

From the Vineyard Collection, bought privately from Leu in March 2002.

This coin actually is most probably from Soloi, but it is unfortunate that its original stock ticket, very probably written by Silvia Hurter, no longer exists! It would be to know if it had a provenance; after all, SH had a habit of finding extraordinary items in old trays!
