CILICIA. Tarsos. Tarkumuwa (Datames), satrap of Cilicia and Cappadocia, 384-361/0 BC. Stater (Silver, 22.5 mm, 10.43 g, 9 h), struck circa 370. B'LTRZ Baaltars seated to right on backless throne, holding bunch of grapes and grain ear in his left hand and eagle-tipped scepter in his right; in field to right, thymiaterion; under throne, forepart of a bull to right. Rev. TRDMW Tarkumuwa seated to right, in full Persian garb, measuring arrow held in his left hand; on the lower right, bow; in field in upper right, winged solar disk. Casabonne type 2. SNG France 289. Very attractively toned. Extremely fine.
