SELEUKID KINGS. Tryphon, circa 142-138 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 16.50 g, 11 h), uncertain mint probably in northern Syria. Diademed head of Tryphon with flowing hair to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΤΡΥΦΩΝΟΣ ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΟΡΟΣ Ornate Macedonian helmet to left, with spike on top and with a wild goat's horn over the visor; the whole within oak wreath border. HGC 9, 1055. SC II 2037 (same reverse die). SMA 263. SNG Spaer 1822. Rare, attractive and nicely toned. A few minor marks, otherwise, good extremely fine.
