Vespasian, 69-79. As (Copper, 27 mm, 11.31 g, 6 h), Lugdunum (Lyon), 71. IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG COS III Laureate head of Vespasian to right, set on globe. Rev. S C Eagle standing facing on globe, its head to right, with his wings spread. Cf. BMC 811. BN 809 = RIC² 1169 (same dies). Cohen 480 var. Very rare variety. A splendid piece with a glossy, deep reddish-brown patina and a strong portrait. Extremely fine.
