CILICIA, Tarsos. Circa 420-410 BC. AR Stater (20.5mm, 10.51 g, 7h). Rider, sitting on an ornate saddle, riding panther(?) left, holding club; to upper right, bird (eagle or owl?) standing left; below panther's belly, ankh / Archer kneeling right, drawing bow; ankh to lower left with two branches above; all in dotted square within incuse square. Cf. Casabonne Type D (unlisted variety); SNG BN –; SNG Levante –; SNG von Aulock –; cf. Leu Numismatik AG Web Auction 3, lot 385. VF, struck slightly off center on the obverse. Rare.

An interesting variety where the animal on the obverse looks more like a panther or lioness than a horse.
