Costa Rica, 1/2 real, "lion" countermark (Type VI, 1849-57) on a Costa Rica (Central American Republic) 1/2 real 1847JB, NGC AU 53, c/s UNC standard. KM-68. 1.46 grams. Perfect full countermark (with consequent cupping) that appears to have been applied obliquely at first and then redone in earnest, the host also choice with light toning and luster, scarce quality for this type.
