Peru, silver medal, 1869, Pisco Mineral Railway, NGC MS 62, ex-Cotoca Collection. Mayaux-431. 24.83 grams. Produced to commemorate the opening of a railway from Pisco, Peru (rather than that of Pasco as stated on the label). Pisco was and still is a major exporter of wine and pisco, a grape brandy; amphoras that would hold the pisco can be seen on the obverse. Dark toning over some luster, very well detailed with sharp strike. Pedigreed to the Cotoca Collection. NGC #4686242-001.
