ISLAMIC, temp. Umayyad Caliphate. 8th-9th centuries CE. Engraved carnelian amulet (21x14mm, 1.42 g). Oval stone with large table and chamfered edge; table with wheel engraved religious inscription in Arabic. See V. Porter, Arabic and Persian Seals and Amulets in the British Museum (London: 2011) for similar examples. As made, a couple of edge chips.
