Extremely rare, a fine example of one of the most beautiful of all Tarentine staters, of splendid late classical style. Beautifully toned. About Extremely Fine.
This is one of the Kal engraver´s masterpieces: the way the nude ephebe carefully, almost lovingly, removes the horse´s bridle on the obverse has a remarkably sculptural quality; and, on the reverse, Phalanthos seems to be in action, as if preparing to leap off the dolphin´s back and begin using his bow and arrows. This can only be termed late classical style at its very best.
This coin is Not subject to any kind of US import restrictions.
