CNI 4 attributes this coin to Hugo I circa 950- 961, and this is repeated in MIR 98. Recent studies (Matzke 1993; Saccocci 2001-2002; Bellesia 2007) date this now to the second half of the tenth century, for Hugo II the Salian marquis of Tuscany 969-1001, and according to Saccocci, these coins would not have been issued before 986, during the minority of Otto III.
