On the occasion of the solemn ceremony of the survey of the saint’s body in Venice in 1094, at the presence of Emperor Henry IV, several coins were deposed in the tomb before closing it, and one of these coins was of the type of this lot: it is possible that the first issue of this type started shortly before 1094, for the first time abandoning the temple type and introducing the bust of the saint. The type went on to be issued until the mid twelfth century. (It can be attributed to Henry IV or V).
