Roman Republic, Julius Caesar (49 BC), AR Denarius, 3.82g, military mint traveling with Caesar, elephant advancing right, trampling horned serpent, caesar in exergue, rev. emblems of the pontificate, simpulum, aspergillum, securis, and apex (Crawford 443/1; Sydenham 1006), struck slightly off center with a few light scratches, nonetheless boldy struck on reverse, almost extremely fine.
