MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AR drachm (18mm, 4.29 gm, 11h). NGC Choice XF 5/5 - 4/5, scratches. Posthumous issue of Lampsacus, ca. 301-296 BC. Head of Heracles right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied before neck / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Zeus seated left on backless throne, right leg drawn back, feet on stool, eagle in right hand, scepter in left; dolphin and lion foreparts left in left field, hook upward under throne. Price 1438. Extremely rare - this coin the only example in sales archives.
