IRELAND, Hiberno-Norse. temp. Echmarcach mac Ragnaill – Murchad mac Diarmata. Mid 11th century. AR Penny (17mm, 0.85 g, 9h). Phase III coinage. Uncertain mint and moneyer. Struck circa 1035-1055/60. Draped bust left / Voided long cross, with triple crescent ends; ‘hand’ in first and fourth angles. SCBI 8 (BM), 127 (same dies); SCBC 6132. Good VF, toned, minor striking weakness.
