MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), plated silver tetradrachm, (17.01 g), Babylon mint, issued 323-317 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, to left M, **LU* monogram below throne, **BASILEWS* in exergue, **ALEXANDROU* to right, (cf.S.6713, Price 3692, BMC 3692a-f, M.1272, Demanhur Hoard 4479-4525). Good very fine.
