Qing Dynasty. Order of the Double Dragon First Class Third Grade Breast Star ND (1900-1912) AU, Barac-40, Werlich-261. 90mm. Coral, pearls, and enameling. The Imperial Order of the Double Dragon was implemented in the late Qing dynasty for outstanding service to the throne and the Qing court. Originally intended strictly for foreigners in wake of the Second Opium Wars in an effort to engage with the West and adopt their style of diplomacy. This beautiful representative is remarkably well preserved with nearly all the coral and enameling intact and a handsome subtle toning throughout the rays.
