VANDALS. Pseudo-Imperial coinage, circa late 5th-early 6th centuries. Nummus (Bronze, 9 mm, 0.69 g, 6 h). Helmeted (?), draped and cuirassed bust to left; to left, imitative legend. Rev. Victory advancing left, holding wreath and palm. Cf. MEC 1, 31-2 and BMC Vandals 37-41 (head to right). Very fine.

This is an unusual Vandalic imitation, as the head on the obverse is not only looking to the left (instead of to the right), but the bust also appears to be helmeted. Could it imitate the Ostrogothic INVICTA ROMA-types from Rome?
