Caliph standing facing, bearded, placing his right hand on the pommel of his sword and girdle band hanging from his right elbow; downwards to left, 'amir al-mu'minin' ('Commander of the Faithful' in Kufic); downwards to right, 'khalifat allah' ('Caliph of God' in Kufic). Rev. Transformed cross standing on three steps; in right field, 'sar' in Kufic; in left field, 'min' in Kufic; around, part of the first Kalima reading 'la ilaha illa allah wahdahu muhammad rasul allah' ('There is no God but God alone; Muhammad is the Prophet of God').
