Syracuse. Second Democracy (466-405 BC). AR tetradrachm (28mm, 17.06 gm, 6h). Boehringer Group VI, ca. 420-415 BC. Charioteer driving walking quadriga right, holding kentron and reins, Nike flying right crowning horses, olive leaf with fruit in exergue / ΣYRΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ, diademed head of Arethusa right, hair bound in saccos, wearing necklace, surrounded by four dolphins. Boehringer 720 (V354/R491). SNG ANS 242 (same dies). BMFA 395 (same dies). Minor surface corrosion on obverse, otherwise well centered on a broad flan and attractively toned. Good Very Fine.
