Edward IV, 1st Reign (1461-70) gold Ryal ND, S-1950, N-1549, Light Coinage of 1464-70, London mint, Crown mm (struck 1467-69), AU55 NGC, a few small areas somewhat soft in strike, including the tiny details of the king's face, but overall this is a sharply struck and most pleasing specimen, on a broad flan without cracks or flaws, the rose on the ship's side as well as the flying banner inscribed "E" to left of the king's head all bold. On the reverse, the central rose upon the radiate sun is also delightful in its details. Old-gold color. This is a really fine hammered Ryal, or Rose-Noble.From The Marston Collection of British Coins.
