Charles I gold Oxford Half Unite 1643, S-2742, N-2395 (rare), Oxford Mint, XF40 NGC, overall a pleasing coin, evenly worn, full flan with a partial flan fold behind the portrait and through 4 of the date, most of the portrait sharp as are the three plumes at top of reverse and most of the Declaration on its continuous scroll, the surfaces showing no abuse and also handsome reddish gold toning. An old-time piece, rare in all conditions, struck from some of the meager gold available to King Charles as the Civil War was beginning.From The Marston Collection of British Coins.
