George I Proof Halfpenny 1717, S-3659, Peck-772 (copper, rare), "Dump" issue, PR65 BN Terner PCGS, a magical coin for the period with a fully proofed impression of each die, broad "toothed borders" which Peck mentions (page 199) as being a key characteristic of the proofs, and the nearly perfect surfaces a dark mahogany brown in color with bluish hues. All design elements show a faint "ghosting" suggestive of the customary two strikes required to coin a proof. A rarity of issue and of grade from the early 18th century, designated on the grading insert as formerly from the astounding Dr Jacob Y.
