George II Proof Crown 1746, S-3690, Old Bust, PR65 NGC, a beautiful and exceptionally fine example of this proof-only issue, one of approximately 100 struck for the first silver Proof Set made by the Royal Mint for collectors, here with delightful surfaces and absolutely correct original patina that is deep gray with multihued iridescence, the reverse flashier than the obverse because of some intense bluish green and golden amber colors. One of the finest survivors of the original mintage. Rare so fine -- in fact, every bit as rare as a choice Bust Dollar of which hundreds exist priced at multiples of this jewel's value.
Estimate: 20000.00-25000.00 USD
