George III Bank of England Dollar 1804, S-3768, KM-Tn1, MS65 NGC, exceptionally fine with virtually no abrasions, bold strike, lustrous beneath fairly light silvery golden lilac-hued gray iridescent toning. Because this type of crown was struck over other silver coins (typically Spanish 8 Reals), instead of on freshly prepared bright silver blanks, during war time, and was intended for and widely used as currency, relatively few have survived the ages in Mint State, fewer still choice, and only occasionally does a really excellent example show up -- as seen here. This coin looks a bit dull at first glance but it grows on you the more you study it, and held at an angle a foot or so away from the eyes its sparkle and appeal also become more evident. In short, this is indeed a gem of a Bank Dollar, as the numerical grade suggests. From The Estate of John C. Hugon.
