Victoria Pattern silver Halfpenny 1860, by Adolph Weyl, Young Head, Peck-2157, plain edge, PR64 Terner PCGS. Despite the grade given, this is a sparkling Gem Proof specimen with brightly reflective surfaces, crisp proof impression, and vibrant bluish mauve and gold iridescence, the reverse colors particularly flashy and neon-blue. Almost every Terner coin was tightly graded by PCGS. The ornate reverse shield is circular with inward-facing scallops, two in each of the quadrants, featuring thistles and roses, the bottom cross of the shield featuring images of an elephant, a seal and a kangaroo, which is why Peck suggested that this and related patterns were intended for both the homeland and the various dominions. Reverse legend is in English. Peck does not provide estimates of rarity for any of these Weyl patterns but states: "Presumably only a few sets were struck in gold and silver and they are undoubtedly EXR" (excessively rare). The grading insert notes that this coin was formerly part of the Dr Jacob Y. Terner Collection. No one could be disappointed owning this wonderful coin. From The Estate of John C. Hugon.

Estimate: 2500.00-3000.00 USD
