Victoria gold Coronation Medal 1838, Eimer-1315, the official Royal Mint issue, MS61 NGC, hairlines and some light abrasions but the high-relief feature remains blissfully intact and appealing. Toned to a pleasing reddish gold color. The obverse portrait, in dramatic high relief, shows Victoria as a teenager wearing a "bandeau," her image in gold surely a sweet depiction by anyone's standards, and is signed "B.P." in tiny raised letters upon the field under the truncation. Benedetto Pistrucci's similar signature appears as well on the reverse at an angle to the far left of the base of the scene, which features "Una," the young Princess, with the lion of state attending to her coronation on June 28, 1838, by Britannia, Hibernia and Scotia. Rare in gold.
