Republic gold Proof Half Pond 1892, KM9.1, Hern-Z38, double shaft, reeded edge, estimated mintage 20 pieces (Hern), PR64 Cameo NGC, a wondrous specimen possessing fabulous eye appeal: perfect impression of the dies, fields so deeply mirrored that they seem to be bottomless pools of golden light, Kruger's bust crisply detailed with subtle contrast against the field but the reverse motif and legend are heavily frosted, perfect rims sharply squared off with wire edges -- all of these qualities producing a coin of stunning eye appeal. The surfaces possess the subtle orange-peel texture seen only on genuine proofs. The numerical grade assigned to this superb coin may be a bit conservative, but the high degree of technical quality is unquestionable to the discerning eye. We have never seen or heard of a finer or more beautiful specimen. Extremely rare. From The Orange River Collection. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $400 in VF, $550 in EF, $1100 in UNC.

Estimate: 80000.00-100000.00 USD
