Watch List notes:

Sociedad Econ de Amigos de Guatemala Quartet, Interesting series of FOUR different medals which are obviously with the same obverse and reverse designs but on high-quality silver flans of four different sizes. Difficult to explain is why the largest 37 mm piece, and the smallest 31mm size, are of controlled even thickness with prominent flat rims while the middle two, of 33mm and 34 mm diameter, have crude plain edges. It has been suggested that these stem from around 1873 but yet more often the date 1889 is mentioned; is it possible the society issued a very similar award medal over a multi-decade period? Quality of the smaller pieces is nice VF - EF+ while the large one is choice AU-UNC and quite splendid. Sold as is, NO Return.Dana Roberts Collection and Study Group.
