Centavo 1895 -1908 first muled Type, KM59, formerly Y-15. This type muled the standard Centavo die used for the backside of the entire issue up until 1890, with a modified 10 Centavo die from the old shelves within the die cutting area of the mint. If it had not been for a huge amount of pieces of this muled variety being produced in 1907 (and then stashed in a hoard with their luster still intact) this would be a most elusive TYPE to acquire. Pieces dated 1895 (not a nice example but the "10" of value and date are certain), 1908/7 and 1908 with these two from very obviously different dies plus with one having a rotated reverse. Grades F-VF.Dana Roberts Collection and Study Group. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $40 in VF, $85 in EF.
Estimate: 200.00-400.00 USD
