PHRYGIA. Laodikeia. Circa 133/88-67 BC. Cistophoric Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 12.58 g, 12 h), c. 90s. Basket (cista mystica) from which snake coils; around, ivy wreath with fruits. Rev. Two snakes coiled around a bow case; to left, ΛAO; to right, winged kerykeion; between snakes heads, ANT monogram. BMC -. SNG von Aulock 8408 (this obverse die). All known examples are struck from a single obverse die. Extremely rare variety, possibly the fourth known, well struck and toned. Obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, good very fine.
