CARIA. Stratonicaea. Caracalla & Geta, 209-211. (Bronze, 37 mm, 22.36 g, 11 h), Leon, son of Alcaeus. AY K M AYP ANTΩN K Λ CЄΠ ΓЄTAC Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla to right, seen from behind, facing, on the right, a laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Geta to left, seen from behind (this bust was erased after Geta's assassination); at the center, countermark of a male head to right, within a circular indent; below, countermark of ΘΕΟΥ within a rectangular indent. Rev. ЄΠI APXONTOC [ΛEONTOC...]/ CTPATONIKЄΩN Zeus Panamaros, holding scepter with his left hand, on horseback to right; to right, altar. Cf. Karl 307 and SNG von Aulock 2685 (both under a different magistrate). CNG 72, 2006, 1172. For the countermarks: Howgego 536 and 188. Basically uncleaned with considerable deposits, otherwise, nearly very fine.
