Bare male head to right, either of the previous governor, Gabinius, or, very possibly, that of M.Licinius Crassus. Rev. ΓAB NY / L I / Λ Dionysus standing facing, head left, holding cantharus and leaning on thyrsus. Barkay 5. DCA 593. HGC 10, 388. Rosenberger 3. RPC I 4827. A very rare and historically important issue with both an unusually clear portrait and readable inscriptions. Possibly the best available example. Good very fine.
