ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 168/7-148 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 16.43 g, 11 h). Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. ΗΡΑΚΛΕΟΥΣ / ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ / ΘΑΣΙΩΝ Herakles standing left, nude but for lion's skin over his shoulder and left arm; resting right hand on club; to left, ΜH monogram. Prokopov, Silberprägung 1404-1406 (V DA5/ R -) reverse die closer to 1405. A well toned example. Very fine.
