Sicily, Akragas. Punic occupation. Ca. 405-392 B.C. Countermarked Æ hemilitron (27 mm, 13.30 g). Uncertain undertype. C/m: head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress, within circular incuse. Westermark, p. 166; CNS 92 CM. Dark green patina, some roughness. Very fine.
This countermark is usually found on eagle/crab hemilitra of Akragas and was applied to coins during the Punic occupation of the city (ca. 405-392 B.C.).
