Manufactured 1840 or later. 1623 self-portrait of Rubens, facing slightly left; artist's name on truncation of bust; PIERRE-PAUL RUBENS around; star above; below bust, portrait in oval frame hanging from chain; all within incuse in blank / Blank, except for evidence of lathing. Pair includes an early example in broad frame (91x11mm), and a later copy of the same type (65x16mm). Cf. Wurzbach 8027 (for obv.). Both as made.
