IRAN: Nasir al-Din Shah, 1848-1896, AE 50 dinars, Tehran, AH1281, KM-Pn3, couple minor carbon spots otherwise lovely mostly bright red luster, NGC graded MS62 RB, RRR. This pattern was struck in the size actually used for the 100 dinars denomination when that type was adopted for use in AH1297. The 50 dinars circulating coin, half the size of this piece, was first issued in AH1293. Although the mint name appears as Tehran on this type, it was likely struck in Belgium.
