FATIMID: al-'Aziz, 975-996, AR ½ dirham (1.52g), al-Qahira al-Mahrusa, AH383, A-705, Nicol-697, extremely rare mint, active for silver only AH383-384, and for gold in AH383 and AH394 (sic, the latter of al-Hakim), some weakness, but the mint name and date are clear, VF, RRR. According to Nicol, the mint name "implies that they were struck in the new palace complex of Cairo, rather than in the old city mint of al-Fustat" (called Misr on the coinage). A similar example sold at Morton & Eden, Auction 92, Lot 87, for $1115 (April 2018).
