Nicephorus III Botaniates. 1078-1081. AE follis (25.60 mm, 5.09 g, 6 h). Anonyous issue, time of Nicephorus III. Constantinople Mint. Nimbate bust of Christ facing, wearing pallium and colobium, raising hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels; IC - XC in fields / Latin cross with X at center, globule and two pellets at each extremity, crescents in upper fields, floral ornaments in lower fields.. SBCV 1889. Good VF for type, overstruck on earlier (presumably anonymous? possibly class B?) follis - much detail of host coin visible around rims.
