Rare black Jet circular stamp seal, Southern Anatolia, ca. 2000 - 1500 B.C. , one side with a standing goat with symbol above, the opposite side with a serpent, V symbol above; horizontally drilled for suspension. Dia: 25mm; Thickness: 6mm. Jet is a precursor to coal, a type of lignite, and is an organic gemstone. It is still quarried around the Turkish city of Erzurum which may be the source of the Jet for this seal. Ex California Museum of Art De-Accession, acquired 1989. Estimated Value: $250 - $350.
