LUCANIA, Metapontion. Circa 440-430 BC. AR Nomos (11.5mm, 7.75 g). Ear of barley with seven grains; META up right field / Star formed of five barley grains around central pellet; METAΠ disbursed between the grains. Noe 310a = Gillet 133 = Jameson 264 (this coin, illustrated in Noe); HN Italy 1490; BMC 45 (same dies); McClean 915 (same dies); Rhousopoulos 139 (same dies). Good VF, attractive old collection tone. Very rare.
