João V gold 12800 Reis 1728-M AU55 NGC, Minas Gerais mint, KM139, Russo-284. Truly spectacular, with a visual depth and bronzed tone which lends an almost medallic appearance. Seemingly struck with rusty dies, resulting in an in-hand feel similar to what one sees with some shipwreck finds, with the overall detailing unusually strong for this large type. All-in-all a fantastic coin, one which is well beyond the majority of its peers.
