Nueva Granada gold Mint Error - Reverse Lamination "Diez Pesos" 10 Pesos 1857-POPAYAN MS64 NGC, Popayan mint, KM122.1, Fr-85. An enchanting error specimen showing deep honeyed, lustrous fields with surprisingly few instances of handling for the grade. The only obvious occurrence of activity, of course, is the lamination error reaching from roughly 6 o'clock on the obverse directly toward the center. While quite noticeable, this error does not obscure any important features. The example thereby strikes an admirable balance between the academic intrigue of the mint error itself and the still-strong eye appeal of the coin's intended design.
