Louis XV gold 1/2 Louis d'Or 1769-A MS63 NGC, Paris mint, KM517.1, Fr-465, Gad-330. Vibrant reflectivity in the fields imparts superb eye-appeal, with few marks, other than the pre-strike planchet adjustments, appearing over the surfaces. Rare as a denomination, and perhaps even rarer as a date, with this piece being the only example certified by either NGC or PCGS and no examples of the date surfacing in archived auction results that date back nearly two decades.
